What is the texture of these hot cocoa bombs?

The marbled shell melts into hot milk and releases the strawberry milk, mini marshmallows, and cotton candy inside.

They emulsify to create a smooth, warm, and perfectly sweet drink. This is a perfect drink for a cool evening or relaxed summer day.

Here’s What You Need

Pink and Blue Candy Melts. Candy melts are easy to melt and remelt, making them ideal for creating these cocoa bombs.

Strawberry Milk Powder. Nesquik is one of the leading brands to sell strawberry milk powder. Unfortunately, no strawberry hot cocoa mix is readily available in most grocery stores; however, this chocolate milk mix does the trick in creating a fruity sweet drink that enhances the cotton candy flavor.

Mini marshmallows. Because marshmallows go with hot chocolate.

Cotton Candy. Using cotton candy in this recipe is what brings the flavor and makes it unique.

  • 1 cup of  pink candy melts
  • 1 cup of blue candy melts

pouring milk in a white cup

Directions:

  1. In two small, microwave-safe bowls, melt the pink and blue candy melts in 30-second increments, stirring in between. This should take about 60-90 seconds. Spoon about 1 tbs of each color into each half-sphere mold. Using the back of a spoon or a pastry brush, gently swirl the colors together without fully mixing them to create a marble look and spread around the molds. Let set in the fridge or the freezer for a quicker set time until hardened, about 8 minutes. Once set, carefully remove each sphere from the mold. If the sides are delicate, you may need to strengthen the top edges with little leftover candy melts.
  2. In 6 of the sphere halves, spoon 1 tbs of the strawberry milk. Top with a couple of mini marshmallows and some cotton candy—warm a small plate in the microwave for 45 seconds. Place one empty sphere halves on the plate for a few seconds to let the edges melt, creating a glue. Place on corresponding, filled half sphere, aligning the edges. Run a clean finger around the edge to smooth it out. Repeat with the remaining 5 spheres until all the cocoa bombs are assembled.
  3. To make hot cocoa, place a hot cocoa bomb into the bottom of a mug and pour 6 oz of hot milk or water over the top. Once the shell is melted, stir to emulsify. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Is It Cheaper To Buy Store-Bought Hot Chocolate Bombs Or Make Them

You will find that making hot chocolate bombs are a lot more affordable than buying.

You can buy all the supplies for your balls at a great value, and you will be able to make a lot of chocolate bombs.

Then use them to serve up family, and friends, have at birthday parties, and more.

It will save you a lot of money than buying pre-made ones from what I can find. However, you can find Hot Chocolate Bombs at Costco and other grocery stores.

Do You Use Cotton Candy In The Cocoa Bombs

You will use cotton candy to stuff in the chocolate balls.

As the chocolate melts, it will melt the cotton candy, giving your drink a delicious sweet cotton candy flavor.

Feel free to use any of your favorite colors of cotton candy.

What are the best spheres for hot chocolate bombs?

You will want to use a silicone mold for this hot chocolate bomb recipe.

The silicone mold is great as you can quickly and carefully lift the chocolate out once it is hardened.

You will find you won’t break the balls like you would if you use a melt or hard mold.

It wouldn’t remove as easily.

Tips on making them quickly

  • With your candy melts, you will find if you place them in a double boiler style, you can keep the candy melts warm as you mix the colors on your spheres. Otherwise, you will find the chocolate hardens fast, so you might have to reheat a handful of times if you don’t move too quickly.
  • Keep all your supplies out and handy so that when you start working making your balls, you have all the items you need on hand.
  • You can warm your milk or water up in the microwave for quick heat.
  • Harden the chocolate faster by freezing it in the spheres.
