Bacon Wrapped Cheddar Brats

Do you ever make plans to grill, and then it starts pouring down raining? Or, it’s the dead of winter with 12 inches of snow on the ground, but you have a taste of some grilled sausage or brats? Well, I know this feeling, as well as my husband. However, he will go out and grill in rain, sleet or snow (just like the mail carrier).

Not me.

When it’s raining or snowing, the last place you will find me is outside trying to quench my need for grilled meat. If you’re like me, then keep reading because I have a simple solution for you.

I received a Johnsonville Sizzling Sausage Grill from Johnsonville a month ago and thought nothing of it. However, I just used this grill for the first time this week, and oh-my-gosh!

Talk about meeting my needs and saving me time! The Johnsonville Sizzling Sausage Grill does just that! Not only can you grill indoors, but you also don’t have to deal with the mess of charcoal, running back outside to check the food, etc.

Johnsonville Sausage Griller Review

Here’s why:

With the Johnsonville Sizzling Sausage Grill, you can place up to five brats or sausage at a time. This grill is specifically designed for Johnsonville’s products (I mean, duh!). However, any meat in the same size range will work. You place each brat on the bottom grill plate. Close it. Press start. And boom, you’re done. When the meat is ready, it will beep four times letting you know it’s time to take them out. How EASY is this??

This not only saves you time, but you don’t have to sit and wonder if the meat is done, or use a meat thermometer. And the Johnsonville Sizzling Sausage Grill is easy to clean. You just remove the plates and wash with warm, soapy water (or put into the dishwasher).

My youngest son requested a meal with bacon. So, I used the Johnsonville brats and wrapped them with bacon. Adding chopped veggies and a sweet tomato sauce, I was able to whip out this easy dinner idea in under 20 minutes!

Wrap each piece of bacon tightly around a Johnsonville Bratwurst, tucking in the ends of bacon around the sausage.

Place each bacon/bratwurst into the Johnsonville Sizzling Sausage Grill.  Close the Johnsonville Sizzling Sausage Grill. You will know it is closed when you hear the click. (if you don’t have a Johnsonville Sizzling Sausage Grill, you can put your bacon/brats on the grill and cook for about 8-10 minutes or until the bacon is done).

The Johnsonville Sizzling Sausage Grill will beep four times when the meat is thoroughly cooked. During grilling, the temperature probe will measure the internal temperature of the center sausage link. After it beeps, remove the bacon/brats using a pair of William Sonoma tongs {and it automatically shuts off!}

Place bacon/brats on the brats buns, and spread the chopped veggies over each one.

Finally, pour a little of the tomato mix over each brat.

EAT!

      Those brats look amazing! I’ve wrapped them before with bacon but find if I don’t boil the brats first they wont cook all the way though. Do they cook all the way with the grill?
