Find Luxury in Palm Springs: Hyatt Palm Springs #CAMomsEscape

Find Luxury in Palm Springs: Hyatt Palm Springs #CAMomsEscape

It is no secret, Palms Spring has a reputation. This cozy little California desert town, with its own kind of Hollywood appeal, has attracted and curated a refined offering for decades.  And if it is good enough for A-list celebrities it is good enough for this un-Diva like mom of three boys in dire need of a vacation. Hello!

A little due diligence prevents disappointment, saves time and money:

Before I book a hotel, I make it a point to always check TripAdvisor first. This is a must before I book or reserve a resort or hotel.

Read and pay attention what other guests have said about a hotel, restaurant or any other establishment or locale you’re considering. In my opinion, some of the best reviews are provided by the people who have stayed there. So, if the majority of customers give it the bomb.com stamp of approval it carries more weight than an extremely biased company ad. And conversely, if a lot of customers give a poor review saying, “RUN, DON’T STAY HERE,” it is reason enough for me to look elsewhere.

I’ve always heard good things about the Hyatt hotels, so this was chosen as our “home away from home” for two nights.

Welcome to Palm Springs Hyatt

Comfort isn’t just a state of mind; it is a place out west:

After a 4-hour flight and two hour drive from the madness that is the City of Angels, Deb ( Just Short Of Crazy) and I,  arrived at the Hyatt Palm Springs hotel. We were weary. We were worn. But our sexy red chariot, the Mazda CX-5 got us here in one, no, two pieces.

We arrived late Tuesday night and even though the valet parking attendants were off shift, the hotel staff took care of our car like the pros they are. Good stuff.

So, we’re all checked in but my eyes kept roaming all around the hotel.

The architecture is ultra-California modern meets Frank Lloyd Wright. The clean lines and the interior decorating were very easy on the eyes. But the real surprise came when we entered our room. Every square foot was beautiful and inviting. Even the color palette was warm and comforting. Yes, the Hyatt Palm Springs did well.

Staying at a hotel should be like a glorified sleepover at a best friend’s house:

Entering our room was like walking into the pages of Condé Nast Traveler. The space was unbelievably inviting. If the room could have spoken it would have said, “Come on in and kick your shoes off.” Initially when you step into the room, there is a stylish lounge and work area. There is also a large flat-screen television along the same wall and a medium-sized desk made of dark wood. On the opposite side, there is a comfortable couch with a pullout bed for additional guests .

When you walk through the small walkway there is a coffee maker (with assorted coffee), sink and closet space. On the right side sits a bathroom. The bathroom is clean with plenty of room for a few people to put their things into and not feel cramped or cluttered.  There is tub with a shower, but the amenity I really enjoyed was the very hot, hot water. I literally melted as the tension of traveling all day sluiced away down the drain. I’m sorry California, I know you guys have water problems… but that long, hot shower was worth it! Selfish but true. No apologies.

Finally, we come to the bedroom area. We stayed in a Double City View Suite. Two double beds with clean, white sheets. I always inspect my sheets and linens for problems. An additional TV sits opposite the bed, along with a few chairs.  The Hyatt here in Palm Springs is the only all-suite hotel in this area, featuring 197 suites!

Beyond, the patio doors open onto a small patio with a view of the pool area below. And let me tell ya, this picture cannot begin to describe this gorgeous view!

The white glove treatment from yours truly, me:

Before I lay my weary head down on a pillow that’s not mine it gets a thorough once over. Errant hairs freak me out, weird smells and smudges unsettle me. So I always inspect the entire room like a forensic technician. I got issues. OCD issues. I am a certified germaphobe. For me, the best hotels do a great job at making me forget that there was another person living in the space I am now in mere hours ago. In the end I was pleased and there were no surprises. So far the Hyatt Palm Springs is leaving quite the favorable impression on me. Now I can get some sleep. (Note: We stayed at the Hyatt Palm Springs for two nights and each night I slept well.)

Sunny side up was the sun and I recharged and refreshed:

The Litmus test for a good night’s sleep isn’t necessarily the amount of hours one sleeps but in how one feels when you wake up. I awoke refreshed and well rested, but there was another thing. I woke up hungry.

I love food. That’s no secret, and I will always choose good food over many other non-food things. Deb and I ate breakfast at the hotel. Beforehand we looked around online for something local but finally decided on the in-house Share Small Plate Bistro. We didn’t know what to expect, but ended up pleasantly delighted with the many great choices.

The first morning I had more great service and a side of edible splendor:

Not only was the breakfast scrumptious, but the service that came with the breakfast was as equally good. Alfredo, our waiter both mornings, has been employed by the Hyatt in Palm Springs for 26 years. Talk about dedication. People who can be perpetually happy and pleasant about their job speaks volumes. It says you must really enjoy what you’re doing and you must really enjoy who you’re working for. So Hyatt, for Alfredo to be there almost 26 years, you must be doing something right. And for what I’ve seen in 48 hours, I definitely can see why.

The Hyatt also houses HooDoo Patio Restaurant & Bar. If you’re there on a weekend, be sure to check out their live music on Thursday – Sunday from 6:30 pm- 9:30 pm.  Both restaurants give you “food, thoughtfully sourced, carefully served”.

At night, you can soak your body in the hot tub or relax with your girlfriends’ or family by one of the fire pits and seating areas around the patio:

To stay or not to stay that is the question:

Do I recommend you staying there? Yes. Its name alone should be a recommendation enough. However, as we all know every hotel chain doesn’t operate the same. But, I can honestly say the Hyatt Palm Springs lives up to the Hyatt standard.

The good points were ticked off one by one, and then I knew this was a good place.

  • Clean rooms
  • Hot Showers
  • Beautiful Views
  • Excellent hotel and restaurant staff
  • Great valet service
  • Pool area is clean and organized (along with the hot tub)
  • Poolside cabanas for rent
  • The hotel grounds are well-kept, lush and beautiful. There is also a nice seating area to take it all in.
  • Bike Rental Service
  • 24-hour StayFit Gym
  • The Internet Service/WiFi works GREAT! (this is important to me.)
  • Complimentary shuttle service to/from Palm Springs airport

And don’t worry, if you left something at home the Hyatt’s got you and your girlfriends’ covered:

So if you’re planning a trip to Palm Springs and are looking for a hotel with good accommodations the Hyatt Palm Springs is an excellent choice.

And even if you select to stay elsewhere I highly recommend the Hyatt’s Share Small Plate Bistro. The breakfast is very, very good and make sure you ask for Alfredo.

The customer service is above par and the delicious food will fill your belly and have you waking up the next morning wanting more!  To book your hotel or to get more information on the Hyatt, check out their website: https://www.palmsprings.hyatt.com/en/hotel/our-hotel.html

Until our next adventure,  Tatanisha
