HOW TO GET A GREAT DEAL ON YOUR RENTAL CAR
Buy All In One Packages: If you are flying, staying in a hotel and needing a rental car check out various online discount sites for better deals when you buy them all together rather than separately. This can be done with sites like Priceline, Booking, Kayak and even individual airlines often offer combination packages at a lower price than purchasing the individual bookings.
Book Full Weeks: There are many occasions where you will be charged a fee for booking a car for less than a week. There are also occasions where booking over a weekend is cheaper than for weekdays. Always look at the cost for longer or slightly shorter times to see if you can save a few dollars.
Skip The Insurance: If your personal car has a good full coverage insurance plan you may not need to pay the extra fee for their insurance or roadside assistance coverage. Always double check prior to rental to make sure your personal insurance will cover anything that might come up.
Call The Local Rental Office: While we are so used to booking everything online, sometimes you can still get a lower rate by calling and talking to the office you will be renting from. Take the time to check out all competitor pricing and then give your pickup location a call to see if they can offer you a slightly lower discount. (This usually works when you are staying local. If you are booking a rental car from the airport, the process is easier to rent it from the airport!)
Use Rewards Programs: If you rent cars often there are numerous rewards programs you can sign up for. Frequent rentals can reward you with free mileage, free rental days and more.
Use Discount Cards: Entertainment Book, AAA and other discount cards offer great discounts, coupons and rewards for rental car services. Make sure to double check for all possible discounts including Military, Student and Senior discounts.
