The Droid Turbo Review: Pros and Cons
Having a smartphone in today’s ever-changing society is a definite must. There seems to always be a new smart phone on the market. Everyone wants the newest phone on the market by their favorite brands. The tricky part is knowing what phone you should actually get and what it can do for you.
The Droid Turbo was revealed from Motorola and Verizon in October 2014 and it has had a chance to gain some ground. The Droid has some pretty nice specs on it. With a 5.2 inch display, it is a great size for viewing pictures or flipping through social media channels. It also has large storage space, coming in at 32gb which is a definite must these days. It is made of metallized glass fiber and the rear cover is reinforced with a layer of Kevlar, so this phone is made to last. It comes with a turbo charger, which is great if you’re in a rush and you need a fast charge. The Turbo can get an 8 hour charge in 15 minutes. WOW!
One of my favorite things about the Droid Turbo is the battery life. I was able to take the Droid with me on two of my recent trips to California and Florida. I was able to go for days without having to stop and charge it. Even when my iPhone battery ran out, the Droid was still running strong. This is a definite must when you’re at the park for hours and hours and you want to take pictures or be able to keep in contact with other people in your party!
I also love that this phone is water repellant. The coating that is on the Droid protects it from everyday spills and up to 20 minutes in a downpour. It was perfect when we were at Sea World. As you may know, if you sit in the Splash Zone at the Shamu show, you are going to get wet. 100% guaranteed. I thought I had made my way out of the splash zone, but turns out I was still a target for the big killer whale. We got splashed in the midst of me taking pictures with the Turbo. Even though the phone and all of our belongings got wet, it did not affect it at all.
One of the main things I loved about the Android Operating System, was a little technique with the InstaGram app. When I add a hashtag, the app starts to pull the hashtags as I am typing and showing how relevant they are on IG. This is GREAT if you’re trying to use targeted hashtags and want to know the most popular ones. I think this feature is super cool and I am a little irritated that Apple’s operation system does not have this feature.
There are a few downsides that I found with the Droid. The phone is a little bulky compared to what I’m use to in size and weight. While the phone does has a 21MP camera, I felt the pictures turned out to be just okay compared to some of the newer models out right now.
Overall, this Droid Turbo definitely has some GREAT features that outshines some of the other models out there. If having a phone with a longer battery life is on your must-have list, then this is definitely one you want to consider. Again, my overall favorite features on this Turbo were the longer battery life and the InstaGram App feature. Two features that my iPhone has not delivered on.
