The ONE Thing You Must Do To Improve Your Photos

The ONE Thing You Need To Improve Your Photos

Have you ever had a picture you just knew would look amazing on your mantle, but the colors didn’t turn out like you imagined? We’ve all taken pictures with our phones while on the go that need a little bit of editing, and the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan is an amazing solution. I admit, I was hesitant at first. I have been using free products for years and always felt like they did great. However, as soon as I opened up Lightroom and started playing I totally changed my mind.

As part of the Best Buy Bloggers program, I get the chance to test out some great tech products. Being a tech family, and a family that includes photography as a huge part of our business the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan was a great addition to our commonly used editing programs.

We share a ton of our favorite recipes here on the blog, but the pictures don’t always come out perfect when we first take them. In fact, there are often lighting issues when a shoot goes a bit later in the day, or shadows that appear when we pull the image up on-screen that we didn’t see while taking the photograph. Not only is Photoshop a favorite for graphic artists, it is a wonderful tool for photographers in any realm to edit, change and update images to make them as clear, sharp and perfectly lit as desired for sharing or selling.

Since we take so many food photographs, I spend a lot of time editing. I love being able to quickly share those images with clients via social media. Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan also saves all of your images to the Cloud for fast and easy sharing on all of the popular networks. This makes my job so much easier!

Here’s a recent photo I edited in Lightroom. On the left is the before photo, followed by the after effects on the right. With just a few small changes in Lightroom, I was able to make this photo clearer, brighter, and brighten the colors up. I am still learning all the tricks and twists of Lightroom, so I stick to the auto-tune options.

Lightroom Before and After Photo

For $119.99 a year, you can download this program to use on your Windows or Mac computer. That means you are spending just $10 a month for an amazing state of the art photo editing program. Whether you’re a hobby photographer, food photographer or a new photographer working toward building your own portfolio for future portrait sessions, this is the ideal price point to expand your business.

I love that Photoshop gives me the ability to edit out blemishes and other small items out of an image if I need it. Lightroom is perfect for adjusting all of my images to the best lighting so the colors pop on your screen when you see our recipe posts. This gives me the chance to give you an amazing recipe that not only sounds good, but also looks delicious. This combination is a great choice for adding to your photo editing repertoire. If you are planning on taking your photography to the next level, investing in software such as Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop is a must. Yes, free programs are great, but they do not give you that “look” you need to take your photos to the next level. Yes, it is a learning curve, but after using Lightroom for the past few months I’m now kicking myself for waiting so long to invest in this program!

Trust me, your photos will thank you!

Tip: If you know of a photographer that wants to take their photos to the next level, consider getting this for them as a Christmas gift!

Lightroom is such a heavy program to use, I often just make a thousand photos, and choose the few that make the cut.
