I’m torn about the remake of Disney classics, but DUMBO is a sweet and heartfelt family movie. And what better way to celebrate with a DUMBO party.

What is Disney’s DUMBO new movie all about?

In “Dumbo,” struggling circus owner Max Medici enlists former star Holt Farrier and his children to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock. But when they discover that Dumbocan fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive but sinister entrepreneur V.A.Vandevere, who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, spectacular, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland.

Stunning extras will transport viewers to the set of “Dumbo,” where cast members Danny DeVito (circus owner Max Medici), Michael Keaton (opportunistic businessman V.A. Vandevere), Colin Farrell (war-veteran-turned-elephant-keeper Holt Farrier), Eva Green (stunning aerialist Colette Marchant), Nico Parker (Farrier’s daughter, Milly) and Finley Hobbins (Farrier’s son, Joe) share their personal stories of courage and character. Features explore how Disney’s timeless animated story was brought to life with an incredibly expressive, lovable, fully computer-generated baby elephant; the longtime collaboration of Burton, production designer Rick Heinrichs and costume designer Colleen Atwood, which resulted in jaw-dropping sets and costumes; and the creation of the visually colossal Dreamland parade sequence. Also included are nine deleted scenes, hidden and not-so-hidden Easter eggs, bloopers and a special performance of “Baby Mine” by Arcade Fire.

Out of all the remakes I’ve seen so far from Disney, “Dumbo” is one of my favorite remakes. To celebrate the physical and digital release of Disney’s movie, why not have a Dumbo watch party.

For your Dumbo watching party, you can keep your party idea simple. Of course, you can do a full blown out carnival style party. Or, you can use just a few treats and sweets, along with popcorn to have a fun movie night.

What you need for a Dumbo movie watching party

I piled all of our desserts and treats on a vintage tray picked up from a flea market a few months ago. I also found Dumbo chocolate candy treats on Etsy, as well as the elephant jars that hold our peanuts and candy. I added fun straws, balloons, and additional carnival type candy to the mix, as well as the popcorn.

Our boys have fallen in love with Carvel I Love Ice Cream Cakes, so we had to add a small one to the mix. You can find this frozen sweet dessert at Walmart.

For our Dumbo party, we used the Ice Cream Cake with Confetti Lil’ Love. I love that it comes decorated but still gives you enough space to add decorations for a themed event. I ordered a Dumbo cake topper from Etsy to give the I Love Ice Cream Cake a Dumbo theme.

It fits perfectly!

Carvel Ice Cream Cake is made with layers of vanilla and chocolate ice cream with chocolate crunchies and fresh whipped icing; these cakes do not last in the Worthey house. I’ve used them for Easter dessert, and recently in a Toy Story party.
