When it is,”Baby, it’s cold outside” weather, there is little better than spending time indoors with a healthy supply of hot chocolate!

And the remarkable thing about hot chocolate is its versatility, it can be made so many delicious ways. From milk chocolate to white chocolate and every shade in-between the variations are endless. And for this version, we used dark chocolate, Ovaltine, and Whoppers malted milk balls. Sounds yummy, right? You bet it is! This one is fun, filled with whimsy, and just so happens to be mega delicious. Not a bad combination at all! Check out the complete recipe down below and level up your hot chocolate game!

How to make Malted Hot Cocoa

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 ounces dark chocolate chopped
  • 2 1/2 – 3 tablespoons Ovaltine
  • Whoppers Chocolate Balls
  • Mini Marshmallows

Cozy up with this hot winter drink's- a malted hot chocolate. Filled with rich chocolate, milk, and some whoppers, this quick hot chocolate recipe is ready to keep you warm on a cold winter's night. 

Directions: 

  1. In a saucepan over medium-low heat warm the chopped dark chocolate with two tablespoons of whole milk, using a smalling whisk keep stirring the chocolate until it melts and becomes smooth. Add the remaining milk and heavy cream until the mixture to steam, stir in Ovaltine. Keep stirring until the chocolate mix is completely dissolved. The cocoa should be hot but not boiling hot.
  2. Pour the cocoa into a mug and top with chopped Whoppers chocolate balls and mini-marshmallows.
  3. Serve.

      I haven’t had Ovaltine in forever!! It was something that we would drink in the Caribbean after school and we would even eat it that way as well. This is such a great idea to use Whoppers, I just may be trying this on the weekend but without Ovaltine, so it wouldn’t really be the same. 🙁
