The Purple Rain

The Purple Rain

Prince Rogers Nelson, otherwise known simply as Prince. Yes, he changed his legal name to a symbol, but to many, it matters not at all because he will forever be just Prince. I remember hearing him for the first time, many moons ago, at my Aunt Linda’s house. She was playing Prince’s debut album For You, and little did I know then that this new artist (at the time) would become, not just a dinosauragantic (made up word) recording legend, but a substantial part of my music is loving life. But throughout his many years of recording music, the song Purple Rain is the one song that can do it for me all the time, every time.

So, here is our drinkable homage to his purple majesty Prince. For this cocktail, the goal was to keep it simple. I have seen a few cocktails floating around the interwebs, and most were complicated and grandiose.  No diss, but way too many ingredients for moi. I think Mr. Prince would like mine version just fine. I think. Put on your favorite Prince songs and raise a glass to Prince.

Ingredients:

• 3 ounces Viniq Shimmering Liqueur
• 2 ounces of Stolichnaya Elit
• Crushed Ice

Directions:

1. In a cocktail shaker, add Viniq and Stoli Elit, top with crushed ice, and shake it a tambourine for 30 seconds.
2. Strain into a standard whiskey glass.
3. Garnish with a small purple flower.
4. Serve.

Drink responsibly, and never drink and drive
