Just in time for the holidays, we have created our super refreshing Four-Ingredient Holiday Punch Mocktail with a Festive Ice Ring.

When it comes to the holidays, it is always vital to raise the bar and create those beautiful, special recipes that make the holidays even more memorable. Read on!

how to make a holiday punch

Holiday Punch Mocktail with Festive Ice Ring

Making all the special, delicious, once-a-year foods and drinks is what makes the holidays extra dope, in my opinion.

Most of the time, the dishes we prepare for the holidays are labor-intensive, but your holiday punch doesn’t have to be, and we’re giving you one recipe that’s an easy two-step process.

How to make a festive ice ring

How to make a festive ice ring

First, grab your punch bowl; if you don’t have one, we love these bowls.

Next, use a tape measure to measure the width of your punch bowl’s rim.

This is important because you don’t want to make an ice ring that will not fit into your punch bowl.

Next, find a bundt cake pan that is a smaller diameter than the rim of your punch bowl.

What You Will Need For the Ice Ring:

Bundt Pan: Making an ice ring in a bundt cake pan is fun; we love these pans because they come in various shapes.

Fruit: Using thinly sliced fruit is a great way to add a festive flair to any punch bowl. We used persimmon, navel orange, lemon, blueberries, cranberries, and juniper berries for our ice ring.

*Note: When using juniper berries, make sure you are using food-grade juniper berries. We recommend food-grade juniper berries.

Soda  Fruit Juice. When making the best ice ring, don’t use water. We all know what happens when ice cubes melt in our drinks: they dilute and water down our drinks.

To prevent this, we decided to make an ice ring that will infuse the punch bowl with flavor as it melts.

For our ice ring, we used equal parts lemon-lime soda or ginger ale and cranberry juice.

Easy Festive Ice Ring Recipe

  • equal parts lemon-lime soda or ginger ale, and cranberry juice (about 3-4 cups, depending on the size of your bundt pan)
  • 1/2 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 persimmon cut into slices
  • 1 orange cut into slices
  • 1 lemon cut into slices
  • 1/2 cup cranberries
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 2 tbsps fresh juniper berries, optional
  • fresh thyme, optional

Equipment:

  • 7-inch bundt pan, smaller or bigger depending on the size of the rim of your punch bowl

making an ice ring

Directions:

    1. Arrange an assortment of sliced oranges, persimmons, and lemons on the bottom of the bundt pan; add cranberries, blueberries, fresh sprigs of thyme, and, if using, juniper berries.
    2. Add 1/2 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice. Next, add soda and cranberry juice in equal parts. Fill the bundt pan until the liquid is about an inch from the rim.
    3. Freeze the ice ring overnight, then remove it. Run warm water over the bottom of the bundt mold. Place the ice ring into the punch bowl flat-side down.

Tip: If you pour all the liquid at once, the fruit often floats to the top rather than remaining suspended.
You can get away with it, but layered freezing works best.
You don’t have to make it long — add:
Freeze halfway for 1–2 hours, add more fruit if needed, then top with the remaining liquid and freeze until fully frozen.

This guarantees the fruit stays evenly distributed and looks photo-ready.

Can I Turn This Punch into a Cocktail?

Want to jazz this up for adults? It’s so easy, add 2-3 cups of your favorite spirit, like bourbon or a flavor-infused vodka or rum.

If gin is your jam, how about an aromatic sloe gin? If you enjoy vodka or rum, choose citrus-flavored varieties.

I also suggest adding 8-10 dashes of citrus or orange bitters to the punch, which should work just fine.

Liqueurs are also an option, or if you are a tequila fan, add your favorite margarita mix.

Oh, and don’t forget to drink responsibly and never drink and drive. Cheers!

Recipe Notes for this holiday punch mocktail recipe:

Okay, you have the recipe; now all you have to do is grab the ingredients and make it happen. Also, don’t be afraid to play around with the ingredients.

I also used Cran-Cherry instead of Cranberry juice.

Sparkling Apple Juice is excellent too, instead of apple cider.

Use flavors you and your family like, and you will create the perfect holiday punch!

If making mimosas, should you leave out soda? Thanks

      Hi Kathy,

Great question! If you want a classic mimosa vibe, then yes, leave out the soda in this recipe.

If you want a more festive, punch like mimosa, then keep the soda. It will make it sweeter with the soda and champagne.

I personally would just leave out the soda!
