Chicken wings are a popular appetizer + recipe idea because everyone loves them! We created an Indian-spiced chicken wing recipe cooked in an air fryer that’ll make your taste buds incredibly happy. They’re spicy, but only a little spicy, and they are ready in under 30 minutes. Let’s do this!

Chicken Wings Game Day Platter

Air Fryer Indian Spiced Chicken Wings

In The Worthey House, we love chicken wings because they’re the perfect finger food which can be seasoned in so many delicious ways; from spicy to sticky sweet and anywhere in between, you really can’t go wrong with a plateful of your favorite chicken wings. You’ll need napkins! What makes these chicken wings even better are they’re prepared using an air fryer, which means a shortened cooking time, so you’re not stuck in the kitchen all-day cooking chicken wings. These wings are ready in 12-15 minutes depending on the size of your chicken wings, and with such a quick cooking time, you’ll be spending more time enjoying your friends and family.

If you like Indian foods seasoned with turmeric, garam masala, ginger, and cinnamon, then chances are you’ll enjoy our Indian-spiced air fryer chicken wings. I also added a bit of Aleppo pepper to keep things interesting because a little heat goes a long way.

What You’ll Need To Make Our Indian Spiced Air Fryer Chicken Wings:

Chicken. I used a dozen chicken wings cut at the joint with the tip removed.

Spray Oil. I used canola oil, but feel free to use coconut or avocado oil. These oils have a high smoke point, which will prevent the oil from burning.

Indian Spice Mix. I used a combination of traditional Indian spices such as garam masala, turmeric, cinnamon, red pepper flake, sea salt, and freshly grated ginger.

Our Spicy Carrot + Chickpea Dip is excellent to serve with these Indian inspired wings.

the seasoning for chicken wings

After I rinse and pat the chicken wings, I spray then with canola oil, let them sit for 2-3 minutes, then add the seasoning, turn the chicken over and repeat the process. Air Fryer Chicken Wings

Arrange the chicken wings on the air fryer basket with a half-inch of space in-between the chicken wings. A crowded basket may result in undercooked chicken wings.

Cook the chicken wings at 360 degrees for 12-15 minutes depending on the size of the chicken wings, larger chicken wings will require a longer cooking time.

Tips For Making Air Fryer Wings

Seasoning | Make sure to evenly season your wings, for a tasty flavor. If you have an uneven coating on your chicken you will find some areas that might lack in flavor.

Even Layer | Start to lay out your chicken in an even layer. It is important to not stack your chicken when air frying your wings. If you stack or overlap the areas will not cook properly.

Batch Cook | If you need – batch cook your chicken so that your air fryer is not over full. To do this you will just need to keep the chicken that is done in the oven. Place in a single layer on a baking sheet at 220 degrees. This will keep your chicken wings warm until you are ready to serve it up.

How long do wings take in the air fryer?

My chicken wings took 12-15 minutes in the air fryer. Now, one thing I want to point out is every air fryer heats a bit differently. So always use the internal temperature as the true guide to knowing when your chicken is done. You want the internal temperature of the chicken wings to reach 165 degrees.

Should I thaw chicken wings before air frying?

If you want you are more than welcome to cook chicken wings from frozen. You just need to make sure to add time to get the chicken fully cooked. The seasoning will not stick to the chicken good until it is thawed a bit.

Just make sure ensure the chicken is fully cooked through.

Storing Leftover Wings

If you happen to have leftover wings, you can store the Indian chicken wings in the fridge for up to three days. Then reheat and enjoy, or eat them cold. The texture will not be as crispy once you reheat.

You can opt to heat wings up in the air fryer to make a crispy texture on the outside.
