And it is a perfect side dish for many of your favorite entrees like steak, salmon, seafood, lamb, or any vegetarian or vegan main dish.

How to make Pan Fried Garlic Broccolini

Ingredients:

  • 1 large bunch of fresh Broccolini
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 medium cloves minced garlic
  • flaky sea salt to taste

Directions:

  1. Prep work: Rinse the Broccolini thoroughly and remove and discard any leaves.
  2. Place a stockpot filled with water over high heat, and add a pinch of salt.
  3. When the water begins the boil, add the broccolini and blanch the vegetables for two minutes.
  4. After two minutes, use tongs to place the Broccolini on a paper towel to remove excess water.
  5. Place a skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and unsalted butter.
  6. When the oil and butter are hot, add the minced garlic cloves.
  7. Add the broccolini to the skillet and sauté evenly for three to four minutes.
  8. Remove vegetables from the skillet from direct heat and serve.

Enjoy!

Pro-tips:

  • You do not need to blanche the broccolini before cooking in the pan.
  • If you prefer not to use olive oil, you can use avocado oil instead.
  • You’ll know the broccolini is cooked thoroughly when it turns bright green and can easily be pierced with a fork but still retains some crunch.
  • You can grill the broccolini by lightly coating it with oil and cook on a preheated grill until tender.
  • Feel free to add bell peppers, onions, or sliced carrots.

What is Broccolini?

Broccolini is a green vegetable. It is a crossover between regular broccoli and Chinese kale.

You’ll notice broccolini has long, thin stalks with small florets.

Can I use regular broccoli instead of broccolini?

If you cannot find broccolini, you can use regular broccoli for this recipe. Keep in mind the cooking time may vary.

Is this a vegan dish?

If you prefer to make this as a vegan or vegetarian dish, swap out the non-vegan ingredients for vegan substitutes.

Storing Leftovers

You can store the leftover broccolini in an airtight container and place it in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

You can reheat it in a pan or microwave before serving.

Can I use frozen broccolini?

Yes, you can. However, we recommend using fresh broccolini for the best taste.

But if you need to use frozen broccolini, be sure to completely thaw it before cooking.
