These brownie treats will have your taste buds dancing joyfully, leaving you craving more.

Listed ingredients for making brownie with pecans

Ingredients You Will Need

Brownies. You can use any brand or style of brownie you would prefer. Just add the extra butter as directed in the recipe card.

Brown Sugar. Light brown sugar works great.

Light Corn Syrup. The gooey pecan base is made with corn syrup and other ingredients. But the traditional flavor is corn syrup.

Eggs. You can use room-temperature eggs for this recipe.

Vanilla. A splash of vanilla is going to enhance the filling.

Salt. Adding some salt is going to enhance all the flavors of the dessert.

Pecans.I roughly chopped our nuts, and it works great, so when you bite into the brownies, you get the perfect amount of nuts.

How to make Pecan Pie Brownies

Servings: 12-15 slices
Prep time: 10 minutes
Bake time: 45 minutes

Brownie Batter in a bowl with ingredients for brownies

Ingredients:

  • Brownies- 1 (18 or 19 ounces) box brownie mix, plus ingredients listed on box directions
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ⅔ cup brown sugar (134 grams)
  • ⅓ cup light corn syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 cups pecans, roughly chopped

freshly baked brownie in a 9x13 pan

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line the bottom and sides of a 9×13” baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Mix the brownie mix according to the package directions. Spread the prepared brownie mix evenly into the parchment-lined baking pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top starts to set and no wet batter is visible.
  3. While the brownies are baking, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, corn syrup, eggs, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl. Fold in the pecans ensuring they are evenly covered.
  4. Once the brownies have baked for 20-25 minutes, pour the pecan mixture evenly over the top. Return the brownies to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until the topping is set and no longer ‘jiggly.’
  5. Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Cooking Tips:

  • Ensure brownies have cooled completely before you slice them. After cooling to room temperature, I recommend placing them in the refrigerator for an hour or two. This will help you achieve a nice clean cut.
  • The baking time may vary depending on the brand of boxed brownie mix you use. If using a fudgy brownie mix, you may need to increase the initial bake time to 30 minutes.
  • Ensure you can not see any wet brownie batter on the top of the brownies after the initial bake. A toothpick inserted into the side of the brownies should come out with only moist crumbs, not wet batter. Do not insert the toothpick into the center of the brownies to test, as they will not be fully cooked in the center.

Storing Brownies

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.

You will want to place wax paper between layers to prevent the brownies from sticking together.

To freeze the brownies, wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or foil and place them in an airtight container.

Brownies can be stored in the freezer for up to two months. Allow the brownies to defrost at room temperature.

Does this recipe double well?

So this is baked in a 9×13. Suppose you ended up wanting to double the recipe.

I would recommend doing two baking dishes.

That way, you get the proper brownie and pecan pie topping ratio.

How to make Pecan Pie Brownies

Can I make this in advance?

Yes, you sure can. Just whip this dessert up a day in advance of when you plan to serve it.

The brownies can dry out if you do too much more than 24 hours.

Brownie Dessert ideas using pecans

Can I use margarine instead of butter?

It would be best if you used real butter instead of margarine.

Margarine is very oily and can alter the texture of the brownies and the topping.

Plus, butter is just better.

Now that you have the recipe, you need to grab the printable recipe listed in the recipe card below.
