Christmas Letter Board

This Christmas Letter Board is the perfect way to display all your holiday thoughts and feelings. What better way to kick off the Christmas spirit than by using your letterboard for writing out cute holiday sayings? As you can see from the example below, “here comes Santa” is literally one of the best sentences, ever! I’ve been a huge fan of having mugs for this reason. To express how I feel on any given day. So be sure to check out my post on making mugs with Christmas sayings on them.

Also to help you get in the Christmas spirit, be sure to check out this list of Best Disney+ Christmas Movies To Watch This Season. Cuddle up and enjoy the holiday season!

Supplies you will need:

  • Craft Wood (from the craft store)
  • 9 x 9 wood plaque
  • Squared Dowel Rods (two sizes: 3/32 x ⅜ x 36” + 5/32 x 5/32 x 24”) * you can use other sizes if you want a bigger one.
  • White Paint (Can also use paint or any color stain)
  • Sponge brush or paintbrush
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Natural Wood Letter Tiles (from Michael’s)

Directions on making your Christmas Letter Board

First, paint the wood. If the wood is not cut to size, go ahead and do that step first.

Note: You can cut craft wood with a razor knife, a table saw or hand saw.

Measurements for the wood:

  • Base: 3/32 x ⅜ x 36 inches
  • Face: 5/32 x 5/32 x 24 inches

Start by painting the wood first with a brush in a well-ventilated area. If you would rather stain the wood, then follow the same steps below, except stain as normal. Be sure to wipe the stain off if used.

  • Paint/Stain along the grain of the wood.
  • Allow the paint to set and dry.

Next, glue the wood together.

With the wood cut and painted, it’s time to assemble the sign.

First, place a base piece of wood flat on the surface.

Next, grab the face and glue it to the base. (note: this is used to support wood letter tiles to prevent them from falling off.)

Place wood letters on the sign. You can purchase the wood letter tiles from a craft store or you can order online.

Fun Ways to Use Your Christmas Letter Board

The great part about making your own letter board is that you can control what you put on it. And this is literally perfect for holidays and really any day out of the year.

If you’re ready to spread holiday cheer, you can have fun changing out the letter board every single day. Some fun sayings that you could add could be:

  • Deck the Halls
  • I’ve Been Good
  • Santa Stop Here
  • Bring Cookies

And when the Christmas holiday is over, switch gears and use this DIY letter board for all the other holidays as well. You’ll love being able to make this homemade letter board once and use it over and over again.
