These Monster Oreos will work for an adult Halloween party too!

I love this Oreo recipe because it is easy to make, fun, and requires a few ingredients.

What You Will Need

Oreos. We used Java chip flavored Oreos, but you can use any flavor of Oreo you want. The java has a brown filling, giving it a spooky vibe when you bite into the Oreos.

Melting Chocolate. I used lime green and purple melting chocolate for dipping my monster-themed cookies. You are welcome to use any colors you want. Orange, yellow, and more would be fun.

Sprinkles. Black and purple sprinkles give the monsters fun textured hair.

Candy Eyes. Find the candy eyes in the baking aisle at the grocery store or shop online and ship them to your home.

Directions on making Chocolate Covered Oreos:

  1. Prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set it aside. Prepare decorations and set them aside.
Melt your melting chocolates separately in small bowls according to the package directions.
  2. Dip your Oreos in the desired color using a fork, allowing chocolate to settle and drip.
  3.  You may give a few taps on the bowl to make it cleaner.
  4. Place on parchment paper and decorate with eyes and sprinkles for hair.
  5. Allow them to dry completely.

How do you dip Oreos in chocolate to create Monster Oreos?

You will get the chocolate melted one cookie at a time.

Dip the cookie. Once it is fully coated, shake off the excess chocolate by tapping the cookie on the fork side of the bowl.

Place on parchment paper to set up.

Can you add food coloring to white chocolate chips?

Adding food coloring to white chocolate can cause the chocolate to seize up.

It will make the chocolate unable to be used.

I find using color candy melts are ideal.

You can buy them in the baking aisle at the grocery store or shop online.

how to store oreo cookies

How to store chocolate-dipped Oreos?

Store your chocolate-dipped Oreos in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 weeks.

You can also freeze the Oreos to extend the shelf life.

They will freeze for 3-4 months easily. Then thaw on the counter at room temperature.

My chocolate is very thick, what should I do?

If you find your chocolate is too thick once it is melted, add a teaspoon of coconut oil and stir.

Combine the chocolate with the oil, which will help to thin it up a bit, making it easier to dip.

Cute Halloween Treat for the Classroom

Can I add Oreos to a stick to make them like Monster Oreo popsicles?

Yes, you can take the stick and dip it in the melted chocolate on one of the tips.

Then poke it into the cream portion of the cookie.

Then you will dip the whole Oreo in the chocolate and shake off the excess chocolate.

This will help ensure the cookie stays on the stick.
