What You Will Need

Eggs. You will need eggs to make the deviled eggs, that’s a given, but with this recipe idea, we made double to have enough for the deviled eggs and the deviled egg dip. Dip to me one more time!

Avocado & Lime Juice. Adding avocado makes the filling for these deviled eggs so dreamy and creamy. I added a bit of lime for two reasons; to keep the avocado from developing an off-color and to brighten the eggs with a bit of citrus.

Cheese. Who doesn’t like cheese and eggs? This classic is an old favorite and works just as well in a dip. We used mild white cheddar, but other cheese options are a solid choice too.

Try:

  • gouda or smoked gouda
  • asiago
  • parmesan

Celery, Celery Leaves & Carrots. The celery and carrots add a bit of textural contrast, and the celery leaves add a bit of color, but you can also add:

  • cilantro
  • parsley
  • arugula

Smoked Paprika, Sea Salt, Cracked Peppercorns. Now, we have arrived at the savory side of this recipe and have lots of big complimentary flavors like smoked paprika and sea salt. I highly recommend a finishing salt like Maldon and freshly cracked black peppercorns.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Adding a bit of EVOO keeps things silky smooth and adds some floral notes, but you can use other healthy oil as well, like:

  • avocado oil
  • grapeseed oil
  • sunflower oil

deviled egg platter

Can I make this in advance?

You are welcome to make this a day in advance if you would like.

Make sure it is covered and store it in the fridge in an airtight container.

veggies to put on a platter

Do I have to add the vegetables to the dip?

No, you are welcome to leave the vegetables out of the dip.

I love having the veggies in as it adds tons of flavor to the egg dip.

What are items to dip in the deviled egg dip?

Crackers, chips, pretzels, bread, bagels, and more all work great.

Plus, you can add some vegetables like cucumbers, carrots, and cucumbers.

I also added peppers for dipping.

slice of avocado

Can I leave out the avocado?

Yes, go right ahead and leave out the avocado.

You can swap it with mayonnaise and still have that creamy texture for the dip.

You could also use Greek yogurt or sour cream. I would do about 1/2 cup.

How to make Smoked Deviled Eggs

How to make Smoked Deviled Eggs

Do you want to take your deviled eggs up a notch?

We used a smoking chamber and placed the deviled eggs in the box for about 6-10 minutes.

Now that you have the recipe, give our smoked deviled eggs a try.

With the holidays just around the corner, this could be an easy appetizer dip idea to put together in about 30 minutes.
