Our Peach Sorbet has a great peach flavor!

Made with a hint of honey and mint to keep things refreshing!

There is a little bit of work involved, but it is so worth it.

Find the recipe and directions below!

How to make a Peach Sorbet

Peach Sorbet with Mint

The height of the peach season is July and August, respectively, which means a lot of peach-inspired goodies.

Let me tell you about these juicy peaches! They are big, sweet, juicy, and the best peaches we have ever had!

We eat peaches as is or have fun adding them to all kinds of our favorite recipes. Like our, Peach Mint Sorbet made with Peach Truck peaches.

This easy recipe for sorbet is so good, and it is the perfect summertime treat. It is sweet but not too sweet, and after the first taste, you will want it again and again.

What You Will Need To Make Our Peach Sorbet with Mint

Peaches. If you make peach sorbet, you will need some peaches. This is our second year ordering Peach Truck peaches; again, these peaches did not disappoint. They are hefty, sweet, and so juicy. And they are the perfect ingredient for our Peach Mint Sorbet.

Mint. Fresh mint is the best; it grows rampant in a side-raised garden bed in our backyard during the summer. Grab 8 to 10 medium-size mint leaves, rinse and shake off any excess water.

Sugar. For this recipe, you can use granulated or superfine sugar. Although you can use a sugar alternative, the sorbet will not be as sweet.

Honey. I love using honey for this sorbet; it tends to add depth of flavor and a bit of complexity. And it makes for a softer sorbet.

Lemon Juice & Sea Salt. Adding fresh lemon juice brings out the natural sweetness of the peaches and elevates the overall taste of our Peach Mint Sorbet.

*Note: Many sorbet recipes use water; I skipped adding water. I macerated the peaches in the food processor with sugar and honey into a puree. The sugar and honey break down the fruit and, as a result, creates enough liquid to forego the addition of water. Plus, this method produces a smoother sorbet. Grab some juicy ripe peaches and make our Peach Mint Sorbet; it is the perfect summertime treat or after-dinner dessert that is light and refreshing.

A pint of peach and mint sorbet

How to make a Peach Sorbet

It takes approximately 2 pints

Ingredients:

  • 4 1/2 cups (6 peaches) ripe peaches boiled for 10 minutes, skin removed, pit removed, and chopped
  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 2 tbsp of fresh lemon juice

a bowl of fresh ripe peaches

Directions on making an easy peach sorbet:

  1. Combine the ingredients and blend until completely smooth.
  2. Transfer into an ice cream machine and follow the instructions for making sorbet.
  3. If you do not own an ice cream maker, pour the contents into a loaf pan. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and ensure the plastic wrap is pressed onto the top of the sorbet mixture; this will prevent ice crystals from forming and freezing for 6-8 hours or overnight.
  4. Serve.

This is our second year ordering our peaches from the Peach Truck.

We recommend finding the nearest location and pre-ordering your box(es) because they sell out!

breville ice cream maker

What kind of ice cream maker makes sorbet?

Purchasing an ice cream maker has been on our wish list for a few years. One year for Father’s Day, Tatanisha and the boys surprised me with my dream ice maker from Breville.

It not only makes ice cream and sorbet but frozen yogurt and gelato.

Once I set the machine up, it was easy to use and takes out the need for me to hand churn my frozen treats.

What makes sorbet creamy?

The pectin in the fruit is going to help provide a creamy texture.

Not using water will allow the juice in the sorbet to be from the fruit, so it will also give your sorbet a creamier texture.

Can I use frozen peaches to make sorbet?

You can use frozen peaches to make this sorbet if you don’t have fresh ones.

I would let the frozen peaches thaw just a bit so they can release a bit of the juice, which will help ensure you don’t need water.

You will mix it the same way as if it was fresh peaches.

Just allow the peaches to partially thaw first.

white containers for storing ice cream

How to store homemade sorbet?

Use an airtight container made to keep frozen ice cream, sorbet, etc, like the one we used: a pint container.

You want to ensure the container fits as much of the sorbet with little headspace at the top.

This will help to ensure your sorbet freezes properly and prevents it from getting as many ice crystals or freezer burning as it sits in the fridge.

We used our Cricut Maker to make the labels for our Peach Mint Sorbet.

How long does homemade peach sorbet last in the freezer?

Unlike ice cream, sorbet can store for around a month in the freezer.

After that time frame, you might find it begins to create ice crystals.

The ice crystals will affect the flavor of your peach sorbet.

How do you defrost frozen sorbet?

Allow your sorbet to sit on the counter in the container for about 5-10 minutes.

This will allow your sorbet to soften quite a bit.

You can also soak your ice cream scoop in hot water.

Then wipe off the water and scoop it into the softened sorbet.

It will help in giving you clean scoops without as much elbow muscle.

Can I make this recipe with other fruit?

You may use other fresh fruit varieties or add some other fruit with the peaches.

Strawberries would be a great addition, or even some blueberries or raspberries.

You could add in just a little. This would add extra flavor but still allow the peach to be the stand-out flavor of the homemade sorbet.

fresh mint in a mason jar and water

Can I leave the mint out of the recipe?

If you don’t want to add in the mint, you are more than welcome to skip it.

I find that the mint adds a ton of flavor to the sweetness of the peaches.

This is optional and will still taste delicious if you don’t add in the mint leaves.

We’ve been experiencing temps in the ’90s this summer, and I can’t think of a better way to enjoy those hot summer days with something fresh and cool on your tongue!

Give our homemade peach sorbet recipe a try, and come back and let us know what you think!

The good thing about this recipe is the simple ingredients; there’s no dairy involved in this sorbet!
