Our Red, White & Boom Firecracker Cocktail is our new summertime fling.

And why not? It’s got great color, tastes good, and is very patriotic.

Cheers!

Red, White & Boom Firecracker Drink

Have you ever wondered what July tastes like? Or red rockets bursting in the air?

Well, wonder no more dear patriotic one. Our Red, White & Boom Firecracker Drink is a July 4th-inspired cocktail that will wet your whistle and Yankee Doodle your Dandy.

But hold on— this one gets its start with a lot of help from old-school ice cream truck nostalgia.

using bomb popsicles in summer cocktails

You know what I am talking about, don’t ya?

When you heard the first notes of the ice cream truck foretelling its arrival in the neighborhood, it was so on!

You either begged your mom or dad for money, or you robbed your piggy bank (or searched feverishly beneath the couch cushions) because you were not gonna let the ice cream truck go past without getting something cold and delicious from it.

Plus, all the neighborhood kids were there, and you didn’t want to be left out in the cold (you see what I did right there, a pun?).

The classic Firecracker Popsicle was a favorite, and if you’re a fan, you’ll remember how it would turn your tongue, lips, and teeth drastic shades of red and blue?

Anyway, I digress.

The Firecracker Popsicle is the starting point for this grown-up and fun summer aperitif.

We mixed in a dram of Smirnoff Red, White & Berry vodka, which matched our tricolor theme perfectly.

ingredients to make a red white and blue vodka drink

A splash of prepared (or homemade lemonade if you have time for that kind of thing), a couple of big ounces of Deep Eddy’s Lemon vodka, and shards of crushed ice.

Just looking at this thing makes my hand involuntarily cover my heart and offer up a solemn pledge of allegiance.

“I pledge allegiance to the wonderful ingredients in this cocktail!”

Am I wrong about that?

If so, I kinda sorta don’t apologize ’cause I’m only funning.

For the full recipe for the Red, White & Boom cocktail, look down below and play bartender.

C’mon, you know you want to!

Smirnoff red, white and berry vodka

Ingredients to make a Red, White, and Boom Firecracker Drink:

  • 2 Red, White and Blue Bomb Popsicles (one will remain whole and the other cut into pieces off of the popsicle stick)
  • 2 ounces Lemonade
  • 1 1/2 ounces Smirnoff Red, White & Berry Vodka
  • 1 ounce of Lemoncello (or Deep Eddy’s Lemon vodka)
  • 1/2 ounce of sweetened lime juice
  • A sprig of fresh mint
  • crushed ice

sweetened lime juice in a bottle

Directions on making this Firecracker Drink:

  1. Add ice, Smirnoff Red, White & Berry Vodka, Lemoncello, sweetened lime, and lemonade into a cocktail shaker.
  2. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
  3. Fill a serving glass halfway with ice, and one popsicle is removed from the stick and broken into pieces.
  4. Place a whole popsicle into the serving glass.
  5. Strain the cocktail into the glass.
  6. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
  7. Serve.

Drink responsibly, and never drink and drive

Tell me, what was, or still is, your favorite ice-cream-truck-frozen-treat obsession? Strawberry Shortcake? The Push-Up? Or maybe the Drumstick?

Smirnoff Red, White & Berry Vodka

What flavor is Smirnoff Red, White & Berry Vodka?

This Smirnoff vodka is a mix of cherry, berry, and citrus. It mimics the flavors of a Bomb Pop that you enjoyed as a kid.

This vodka is the perfect mix-in vodka for this summer cocktail.

red white and blue cocktails

Can I use something in replace of the lemonade in cocktail?

If you want to elevate the flavor even more consider using Mike’s Hard lemonade instead of classic lemonade.

This is going to give you the citrus flavor and add extra alcohol to the cocktail. Or you can swap the lemonade fully out with a lemon lime soda.

Can I make a picther of this cocktail?

The recipe above is for one serving. If you plan to make this for a crowd, you will need to triple the recipe for 3 people, 8 servings for 8 people and etc.

Yes! If you want go ahead and whip up a large batch to serve a crowd if you would like.

Then pour in each cup and garnish and serve. This is a delicious cocktail for the 4th of July or Memorial day!

What is Lemoncello?

What is Lemoncello?

Lemoncello is a very strong and bold concentrated citrus flavor. This is used often in mixing cocktails, as it brings out tons of flavor.

Leave us a comment below and tell us all about it.

These sound super yummy. You definitely can’t go wrong with deep eddy vodka drinks. This is a fun way to make a childhood favorite more adult friendly 😀
