This white fudge recipe is made with chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla.

What is the secret to making fudge?

One thing I want to make sure to share is to ensure you fully melt the chocolate chips.

Don’t overheat the white chips in the microwave, or they can burn.

Stir every 20-30 seconds. Stir some, return to cooking, remove and stir, and repeat.

Variations To Recipe

  • Change up the toppings you use. Sprinkle on colored sugar, mini chocolate chips, valentine’s gummies, etc.
  • Stir some candies into the fudge batter or even cookie crumbles for added flavor. I created this sprinkle mix using small bags of Wilton Sprinkles from a local craft store. I used: Small Pink Hearts, Jumbo Red Balls, Jumbo Red Hearts, and a Gold/White Medley.
  • You can swap the white chocolate chips with milk, dark, or even semi-sweet chocolate chip.

White Chocolate Fudge Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (14 ounces) of sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Sprinkles to decorate, optional

Directions:

  1. Line an 8×8 pan with parchment paper and spray it lightly with nonstick baking spray.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk and white chocolate. Place it in the microwave and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Stir the mixture together. If the chocolate hasn’t fully melted, microwave it for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and transfer the fudge to the parchment-lined pan. Spread it out evenly using a spoon or offset spatula. If you want to decorate your fudge with sprinkles, add them while the fudge is still soft.
  5. Place the fudge in the fridge to chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  6. Remove the fudge from the fridge and slice it into your desired size. Serve slightly chilled.
  7. Store any uneaten fudge in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

This recipe requires about 5 minutes of prep time. You will want to chill the white chocolate fudge for about 4 hours before serving.

Why is it called fudge?

The true reason it is called fudge is not fully known.

But, it is said that a baker creating caramel fudged the recipe, which turned into a tasty mistake.

So this is why fudge is called fudge.

Who knows if that is the first reason, but a great dessert, no matter its name, is.

How should you store fudge?

This homemade fudge needs to be stored in the fridge in an airtight container.

It will keep for around 2-3 weeks. The fudge will begin to dry out after a bit, so eating it within the first two weeks is best.

If you don’t eat all your fudge, you can also freeze it.

Slice and then place in a freezer in an airtight container or freezer bag.

Then store for around three months.

Notes

Recipe notes:
In order for this recipe to accurate, you must use sweetened condensed milk, not evaporated milk!
I recommend cutting all the way through the parchment paper and leaving the fudge on small parchment squares— this will prevent it from sticking to your serving platter.
This is a very soft fudge, if you want fudge that is a little harder (and sturdier), use 5 cups of white chocolate chips instead of the recommended 4.
