What is white fudge made of?
This white fudge recipe is made with chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla. You will find other recipes on the web that can vary slightly for what ingredients have been used. I find this recipe is one of my family’s preferred recipe.
What is the secret to making fudge?
One thing I want to make sure to share is to ensure you fully melt the chocolate chips. Don’t overheat the white chips in the microwave, or it can burn. Stir every 20-30 seconds. Stir some, return to cooking, remove and stir, and repeat.
Variations To Recipe
- Change up the toppings you use. Sprinkle on colored sugar, mini chocolate chips, valentine gummies, etc.
- Stir in some candies into the fudge batter or even cookie crumbles for added flavor. I created this sprinkle mix using the small bags of Wilton Sprinkles from a local craft store. I used: Small Pink Hearts, Jumbo Red Balls, Jumbo Red Hearts, and a Gold/White Medley.
- You can swap the white chocolate chips with milk, dark, or even semi-sweet chocolate chip.

Why is it called fudge?
The true reason it is called fudge is not fully known. But, it is said a baker is who was creating caramel, fudged the recipe, and it turned into a tasty mistake. So this is why fudge is called fudge. Who knows if that is the first reason, but a great dessert no matter its name is.
How should you store fudge?
This homemade fudge needs to be stored in the fridge in an airtight container. It will keep for around 2-3 weeks. The fudge will begin to dry out after a bit, so it is best to eat it within the first two weeks.
If you don’t eat all your fudge, you can also freeze it. Slice and then place in a freezer in an airtight container or freezer bag. Then store for around three months.

Notes
Recipe notes:
In order for this recipe to accurate, you must use sweetened condensed milk, not evaporated milk!
I recommend cutting all the way through the parchment paper and leaving the fudge on small parchment squares— this will prevent it from sticking to your serving platter.
This is a very soft fudge, if you want fudge that is a little harder (and sturdier), use 5 cups of white chocolate chips instead of the recommended 4.
