Elf on the Shelf Welcome Breakfast

Can you believe it’s almost that time of year: Yup, it’s time to play the “I forgot to move the Elf” game! Although my boys are getting older, my youngest has already asked about Elfie coming back this year.

Yes, I’m THAT mom who uses our Elf to help keep the boys’ behavior in line around Christmas time. And yes, I use the line, “I will take something off your Christmas list,” all the time. Hey, a Mom’s gotta do what a Mom’s gotta do!

Elf on the Shelf Welcome Breakfast

Elf on the Shelf Welcome Breakfast

Last year I wanted to create a fun Elf on the Shelf Tablescape, but it just didn’t happen.

This year, I have plans to do a lot of fun Christmas stuff with the boys. And we are planning on having a welcome breakfast for our Elves.

I put together a fun and easy-to-do tablescape to welcome your Elf! Or, you can use it for a Kids’ Christmas Tablescape.

However you decide to use it, I promise this is an idea that everyone can do!

Supply List:

  • Red Chargers
  • American Atelier Bianca Dots Round Plates
  • Red & White Chevron Plates
  • Red Christmas Wrapping Paper
  • Plastic Silverware
  • Snowflakes Drinking Glasses
  • Red & White Drinking Straws
  • Mason Jars to hold Candy
  • Assorted Candy (Smarties, Twizzlers, Christmas Candy, Gum Balls, Gummies)
  • Styrofoam Peppermint Sticks- Christmas Decoration from Hobby Lobby
  • Plastic Red & White Lollipop Christmas Decoration from Hobby Lobby
  • Santa Decor Sign from Hobby Lobby
  • Red & White Chevron Chalkboard from Hobby Lobby
  • 2 Sets of Strala City LED Decoration Lightning from Ikea
  • Santa Sleigh from Hobby Lobby
  • Metal Red & White Santa Cone Hats w/ Jingle Bell on top from Hobby Lobby

And be sure to have an Elf on the Shelf. You can grab one here.

Elf on the Shelf Welcome Breakfast

So here’s how we put this Elf on the Shelf Tablescape idea together:

Since we’re talking about kids, I like to play it safe. Did you know wrapping paper on your table versus a tablecloth or a runner is much easier?

Yes, I love wrapping paper as a runner on my tablescapes, especially during the Holidays. Kids and Grownups are bound to make a mess.

And instead of hearing the “oops, I’m sorry for spilling red punch on your white tablecloth,” you can rip off the paper and toss it in the trash.

In this idea, I put down a plastic white table cover (I don’t want to ruin my table), then red & white festive Christmas wrapping paper.

For the center of the table, I am using two Sets of Strala City LED Decoration Lightning from Ikea. ( I LOVE that store).

It’s hard to see them lit up in the daytime, but at night they are beautiful! In between each set of lights, I place two Metal Red & White Santa Cone Hats w/ Jingle Bell on top from Hobby Lobby.

Next, set the table. In this idea, I’m setting the table for four people.

Start by placing the red charges, followed by my American Atelier Bianca Dots Round Plates, and then the red & white chevron plates.

Red & White Christmas Mason Jars

To the right of each place setting, I added the red & white mason jars for decoration, followed by the snowflakes drinking glasses.

I place fun decorations in each mason jar, such as styrofoam peppermint balls (from Hobby Lobby).  You can learn how to make your own red & white mason jars here.

And don’t forget to add your silverware!

If you have a buffet, you could use it to set up your candy lane area. Or, you can add it to your table, as shown above.

I added an assortment of candy, including peppermint candy, red & white straws, bubble gum, and more!

You can get creative and add Elf on the Shelf Nutella Cupcakes, Christmas candy, gingerbread cookies, biscotti, and more!

I also added a red & white chevron blackboard (picked up from Hobby Lobby) and wrote, “Welcome Elfie & Jack” on it. This is also a way to keep the kids entertained by letting them write all over it.

I finished my welcome Elfie Tablescape with a few more decorations and placed Elfie and Jack in Santa’s Sleigh.

And that’s it! The kids will LOVE seeing all the fun things to eat and be delighted to see their Elf as well!

And, of course, you can add breakfast, lunch, or dinner food (depending on the day your Elf arrives). Our Elves arrive the weekend of Thanksgiving, so a welcome breakfast is ideal!

We also added a hot chocolate tray filled with pumpkin hot chocolate, marshmallows, and chocolate!

I think this is the most adorable Elf on the Shelf idea ever. People always have elf on the shelf getting into mischief. I’ve never seen a table set for them.

This is awesome. Maybe next year we can do this. I chose not to do our Elf this year after 2 years of it because I would keep forgetting it and my kids would get so upset, lol. I love this though.

I’m not a fan of Elf on the Shelf-I think because the doll creeps me out a bit, but I love your party! Beautiful photos.
