Peppermint Drink For Kids + Adults
If you’re a fan of all things peppermint, you’ll love this peppermint mocktail. It’s a sweet drink with a ton of peppermint flavor.
With Christmas being my favorite holiday, I’m a huge fan of peppermint everything! This peppermint mocktail is excellent for holiday parties, Christmas dinner, and even a New Year’s Eve toast.
Both kids and adults can enjoy this holiday drink.

This peppermint drink is unique
What I like about this drink is the addition of the peppermint stick. We’ve created other kid-friendly peppermint drinks before, like our Christmas Peppermint Julep {Kid-Friendly}, and Perfect Christmas Peppermint Shake Cocktail.
What’s different about this drink is the change of color.

This mocktail initially starts as a clear, light color. Once you add the peppermint stick, the color starts to change to a darker pink color.

Kids will love watching the color change, so I recommend not putting the peppermint stick in the drink until the kids or adults are ready to drink it.

Peppermint Mocktail Recipe
1 serving
Ingredients:
- 1 oz of peppermint syrup
- 1 oz of Cranberry Juice
- 2 oz of Blood Orange Flavored Sparkling Juice
- 2 oz of Lemon-Lime Soda (I used Sprite)
- Ice
- Peppermint stick for garnish
Directions:
- Fill an 8-oz glass with ice. We love using pebble ice. You can buy a pebble ice-maker or pick up this particular type of ice at fast-food restaurants.
- In a cocktail shaker, add ice, peppermint syrup, cranberry juice, and blood orange-flavored sparkling juice.
- Stir for about 15 seconds.
- Pour into the 8-oz glass filled with ice.
- Top off with lemon-lime soda.
- Add a peppermint stick for garnish.
Can I Make This Mocktail Ahead Of Time?
You can prep the base ahead of time by mixing the peppermint syrup, cranberry juice, and blood orange sparkling juice. Keep it chilled, and add the lemon-lime soda right before serving to keep the drink bubbly and fresh.
Can I Turn This Into A Batched Holiday Punch?
Yes. You’ll want to adjust the recipe to the right serving size. For example, if you are making this for 10 people, change the 1 oz to 10 oz, and so on. Mix the peppermint syrup, cranberry juice, and sparkling juice in a pitcher. Add the soda right before serving. This keeps the fizz from going flat.
You can also use the recipe adjustment scale below to help you get the right amount of serving sizes.
Can I Make This Drink Alcoholic?
Absolutely. Add 1 to 1.5 ounces of vodka, white rum, or gin to turn this into a festive cocktail.
Do I Have To Use Blood Orange Sparkling Juice?
No. Any berry or orange-flavored sparkling juice works, and even sparkling water can be used for a lighter version.
Can I Skip The Cranberry Juice?
You can, but you’ll lose a little color and brightness. Even a small splash helps balance the sweetness.
What If I Don’t Have Peppermint Syrup?
Use simple syrup with one tiny drop of peppermint extract, or dissolve crushed candy canes in hot water for a quick DIY peppermint syrup.
What Size Glass Should I Use?
An 8-ounce glass works best, but any 8–10-ounce glass will do, including rocks glasses or tall festive cups.
Do I Have To Use Pebble Ice?
No. Regular ice works just fine. Pebble ice is excellent for faster chilling and makes for a fun presentation.
Can Kids Drink This?
Yes. This recipe is completely alcohol-free and suitable for kids. Plus, the kids will love seeing the peppermint slowly change their drink to a red color! So fun!
How Do I Make It Less Sweet?
Use unsweetened cranberry juice, reduce the amount of peppermint syrup, or substitute the lemon-lime soda with sparkling water.
The holiday season is such a fun time of the year, but you can’t do the holidays without food and good drinks.
This peppermint drink will get you in the holiday mood, with the sweet taste of peppermint candy. And with the way this drink changes color, it’s a fun holiday drink to serve!
